Sanitation WorkerThe City of Roanoke is seeking a Sanitation Worker to perform unskilled work in collection of solid waste, brush/bulk items and recyclable materials. The successful candidate will roll refuse carts from curb or behind house to truck for dumping; sort recyclable materials at curb from recycling can and deposits in proper compartment of truck; pick up refuse cans from businesses and dumps into truck; and collect brush and bulk from alley/streets and deposits in truck. They will also operate mechanism for loading, compressing, and dumping of vehicles; assist in unloading truck at disposal site; clean truck and equipment in accordance with department policy; and report violations of SWM ordinances to driver.
