Johnson Service Group, a leading professional recruiting firm, is seeking a
Customs Entry Writer with CargoWise for a remote opportunity with a highly reputable customs broker.
The Customs Entry Writer plays a critical role in ensuring seamless import and export operations, maintaining compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, and supporting overall trade operations.
Responsibilities Customer Onboarding & Compliance - Prepare and process new customer onboarding packets for import/export activities.
- Ensure all documentation aligns with internal policies and sales agreements.
- Verify and validate Power of Attorney (POA) documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.
Documentation & Data Management - Review and validate packing lists, commercial invoices, and Bills of Lading (BOLs) for accuracy and proper classification.
- Maintain and update client profiles in CargoWise, ensuring consistency with tariff structures and regulatory requirements.
- Track and manage monthly bond renewals, including billing considerations and termination handling for prior months.
- Maintain an organized account calendar, tracking compliance deadlines, address updates, and bond responses.
Financial & Reporting Duties - Generate and analyze daily and monthly operational reports to support efficiency improvements.
- Process accounts payable invoices accurately, ensuring proper coding and documentation.
Qualifications - Minimum of 2 years of experience in customs brokerage or trade compliance completing Customs Entries (beyond entering into a database)
- Must be able to calculate tariffs and taxes.
- CargoWise experience is required.
- Strong working knowledge of customs entry processes, tariff classification, and compliance procedures.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
